A New Lab

It has been far too long since I made my last post entry. Now, I finally have a few reasons to start blogging again. The first being, I redesigned my home lab/network. It’s nothing extraordinary, but it will work well for what I need.

Quick overview — New Components (these replace an existing mac-mini with external USB storage)

Additional Components (Already Owned)

People might wonder, why did I need the Trendnet usb adapters? Well, my objective is to have dedicated storage networking, so that storage does not interfere with the standard networking traffic. The Trendnet device uses a very well supported chipset, which makes this a cheap and simple choice to implement a dedicated network for that purpose.

A bit later, I’ll post up the diagram of my network topology, as well as the Ovirt installation process.
